As part of a Patreon request, MarzGurl discusses the full extent of the Japanese hero series Kamen Rider Gaim. Part 1 focuses on material with little to no series spoilers.
Nice work on the review.
I was never drawn to this show. The fruit lock things were part of it, but also the multiple Riders. While I actually liked Kamen Rider Dragon Knight, Hibiki (I think I have that name right) also didn’t interest me for the Riders who should be fighting the monsters instead of each other. I only tried to watch Hibiki after Dragon Knight but I accepted that as people were being tricked or were just jerks. I’m not sure I’m making sense but I’d rather see superheroes fighting supervillains and not each other.
(And I don’t care if you want to call it tokusatsu, Sentai, Kamen Rider, Metal Hero…it’s all superheroes to me, just with a different cultural perspective.)
Nice review! I can’t wait to hear your thoughts in part two. Gaim was my gateway into Kamen Rider actually – I enjoyed the crossover of Gaim with ToQger (my current favorite sentai season) and I adored Gaim once I sat down to watch it. I think the part I most loved about the series was that by the end it was not at *ALL* what I was expecting from the start. It went down a dark path and became a completely different show, and did that turnaround very well. But yeah… episode 46 was hard for me. Mostly because I am a die hard Team Baron fangirl.
